Save the Date Cards are the easiest way to give your friends and family advanced notice of your up and coming wedding. Most save the date cards are mailed 3 months to 1 year ahead of time.

Why do we need to send save the date cards and Wedding Invitations?

Many of your invited guests may need fair amount of time to make the necessary arrangements to be able to attend your wedding. This gives your guests the extra time they need to take time off work, book flights and accommodation, even organise a dog-sitter.

Do I really need to send a save the date card and word of mouth be enough?

We recommend sending save the date cards for weddings that occur during the summer or near holidays.  We also recommend sending them if you have guests that will need to travel from out of town.  Holiday periods are typically booked months in advance and it is thoughtful to give your friends and family as much time as possible to plan for your wedding.

Save the Date Wording

The wording doesn’t have to be anything exceptionally formal. Some people include a short poem or a favourite lovey-dovey quote. This is the time to be less formal, so feel free to go wild. Be sure to include “Formal invitation to follow” at the bottom of your save-the-date card and guests will know there’s more to come.
